What to Do With Kids’ Papers
Do your kids come home with piles of papers? Are they covering your kitchen counters? Are you in need of where to store all the papers?
As a professional organizer and mom of 2 young kiddos, I totally can relate to that feeling! The papers pile up and take over your home.
I have some easy solutions you can test out to see what works in your home!
Filing System
Storing kids’ papers in a designated file folder for each grade can help reduce extra paper clutter.
My entire organizing philosophy is to give you the least amount of steps to stay organized. If you create a filing system, I recommend you keep the files in the front of the cabinet or remove the lid on the filing box. By removing that extra step, you are more likely to keep up with taming the paper clutter quickly and efficiently!
Clipboard Wall
I have created a few clipboard walls to store children’s artwork. The system is very easy, as you just clip the new picture to the board as you walk in the door.
I recommend keeping the clipboard wall near the main entrance of your home. Ours is in our mud room!
When the kids empty their backpacks, they just add new pictures to the boards. When the boards get full, we either take pictures to create a book, or we recycle them.
Drop Zone
Another easy option for papers is to create a drop zone. A drop zone is an area where you just drop all the papers.
I have created drop zones using magazine holders. I have given each holder a specific purpose (bills, coupons, kids, etc.) Then those papers go into the designated holder.
This system works because things are organized based on each individual category. Every week, set a specific day to go through bills and other papers. Since they are already sorted, it should much less time to tackle!
So figure out which system will work best for your family. Create space and teach everyone in the family how to tackle the paper clutter!
