18 New Happenings at Apachi Rogers Park this Summer

Exciting things are happening this summer in West Rogers Park!
Generations of campers have loved attending day camp at the Bernard Horwich JCC. This summer the camp has an updated name, Apachi Rogers Park, and a large list of new activities and programs for boys and girls of all ages! We’re giving campers (and parents) even more reasons to love Apachi Rogers Park.
New Activities for Camp
- Kan Jam: The beach is coming to the city this summer with this awesome new game combining Frisbee golf and air hockey.
- Busy Builders: Kids’ imaginations will run wild using traditional building blocks and unconventional materials.
- Spike Ball: As seen on Shark Tank! This high energy game is played with four kids and has similar rules to volleyball, but uses a smaller ball and trampoline-style net.
- Hot ‘N Cold: Teams play against each other to find hidden objects with special clues. It’s our newest twist on Hide and Go Seek.
Added Electives for 4th & 5th Grades
- Outdoor Cooking: Snacks make every day better, especially when they are snacks you make yourself.
- Cool Hacks: Each session is a new DIY project.
- Construction: Create contraptions like marble mazes, paper roller coasters and catapults.
- Grossology: What’s better than slime and all things slimy? Even more grossness!
- Fashion Design: Campers make clothing and other wearables.
More Preschool Fun for 3 Year-Olds
- Professional Staff: Every staff member in our summer preschool program for 3 year-olds is an experienced teacher. There’s no one better to care for the youngest campers at camp.
- Outdoor Adventure: Summer is all about being outside. We’re adding even more nature-inspired exploration and outdoor activities for 3 year-olds.
Exciting Field Trips
We’re keeping many of our past favorites and adding these locations.
- Wrigley Field: Go on a behind the scenes tour for 4th & 5th boys and girls.
- Gizmos Fun Factory: Visit an enormous arcade and entertainment center for 4th & 5th boys and girls.
- Junior Ninja Warriors: Pass all of the obstacles and challenges made famous by the tv show for 3rd, 4th & 5th boys.
- Emily Oaks Nature Center: Head off on a geocaching adventure for 4th & 5th girls.
- Minor League Baseball Game: Watch the Kane County Cougars with 3rd, 4th & 5th boys.
- The Grove: Explore the prairie and experience log cabin living for 1st & 2nd boys and girls.
Brand New Specialty Camp
- Machaneh A.C.T. – Apachi Camp Theater: Girls (4th and 5th Grades) can be stars and hone their acting skills this summer. Each session will include a theatrical production. Activities include dance, drama, set design, swimming and other favorite Apachi Rogers Park programs.
The list goes on and on. We can’t wait to see what other unique and innovative activities our staff create for campers for this summer.
Apachi Rogers Park is the neighborhood camp where tradition meets summer fun. Campers thrive in our Torah-enriched community while exploring interests, gaining skills and creating lifelong friendships. Spaces are still available for Summer 2017.
