STEM Center at Sunrise Day Camp—Chicago Makes Its Debut

Sunrise Day Camp-Chicago gives kids undergoing cancer treatment (and their siblings) a chance to just be kids at camp all for free! The kids are not just campers—they are future innovators!
Our new STEM Center at Sunrise Day Camp-Chicago celebrated its debut with a ribbon cutting ceremony. This STEM Center is made possible with thanks to Exelon and the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation. Special thanks to Cal Ripken Jr., Exelon CEO Calvin Butler, Congressman Brad Schneider, Senator Darby Hills, and Rep. Nabella Syed for joining us—and for helping make this possible. Huge thanks to Board members Ed Atkins, Marisa Mandrea, Mike Ross & Judd Spector for representing our lay leadership!
With the opening of the STEM center, campers now have incredible tools to spark their interest in science, tech, engineering, and math.
The campers could not be more excited to start this STEM journey. They took the stage at the event with an inspiring enthusiasm for learning. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for these innovators. The STEM Center at Sunrise Day Camp-Chicago is a new and exciting chapter of learning and hope!
