Sharing The Spirit
Apachi Day Camp’s values are respect, kindness and community and we intentionally create programs that put our values into practice. We want campers to experience the feeling of belonging, making new connections and new friendships! Last week, our Apachi campers were able to model these values in our first-ever partnership with Camp No Limits.
Our oldest campers and CITs from ‘Z’ Frank Apachi, Elaine Frank Apachi and Apachi Old Town gathered to virtually meet with campers from Camp No Limits and build this new connection.
Camp No Limits is a part of the No Limits Foundation, a non-profit organization 501 (c)(3), providing summer camp experiences for children with limb loss and differences. It fosters a welcoming and supportive community in the hopes of helping all those who attend the camp.
There was a feeling of unity. We kicked off the morning where counselors and mentors from Apachi Day Camp and Camp No Limits shared what camp means to them. Apachi Day Camp led everyone in a favorite camp song and Camp No Limits shared their energizer dance!
Campers were able to learn about each other and their unique differences all while creating a beautiful connection on and off the screen. This program allowed our staff and campers to learn about inclusion and disability in a different way and begin a growing partnership. I can’t wait to see how our two camps come together in the future!
