Growing Hope Day Proclamation
Governor JB Pritzker declared September 25, 2024 as Growing Hope Day in Illinois.
WHEREAS, the Growing Hope program of the Jewish Community Centers of Chicago (JCC) was created to combat a perceived crisis of hopelessness in our world and to empower individuals to use the tools of empathy, kindness, and creativity in service of building a brighter future for all; and,
WHEREAS, the Growing Hope initiative is firmly rooted in the Jewish value of tikkun olam (repairing our world) – which holds all people responsible for using their voice and talents to make the world a kinder, more tolerant, more beautiful place for all regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, economic status or other diverse backgrounds; and,
WHEREAS, hope is critical in the world because it enables us to endure challenges, dream about infinite possibilities, strive to make a positive impact in our communities, and ensure a bright future for our children, and,
WHEREAS, JCC Chicago is presenting the 2024 Growing Hope Concert as a call to action and a celebration of the greater Growing Hope initiative, using the power of music and performance to bring together a multigenerational community of caring, engaged individuals committed to the Growing Hope mission of inclusion, kindness, and hope;
THEREFORE, I, JB Pritzker, Governor of the State of Illinois, do hereby proclaim September 25, 2024, as Growing Hope Day and call upon all residents to explore, celebrate, and participate in Growing Hope in their communities across the Land of Lincoln.
