A Summer of Smiles at Apachi

“I want to thank you both for the camp experience that my kids had this summer. [My daughter] truly found her interests and to her that is being a CIT. [My other daughter] is already dreaming of finally trying the zip line and being a pioneer – she had such a good time that she is talking about next summer already. Sending kids to Apachi was the best decision of 2020. Kids got to be themselves and I got to see my happy and easygoing kids – even if it’s for a shortened period of time. Thank you and we are looking forward to returning next year.”

I know this kept you up at night, but we couldn’t be more thrilled that Camp not only ran, but was a huge success story! We are so sad it’s over but beyond grateful for the time the kids had there, however different it might have been. To them the essence of the camp they loved was still there! “I just had to send you an email to let you know what an amazing job you and your staff did to keep our kiddos safe this summer. My worries and concerns that I had about [my child’s] safety were put at ease when I heard all the precautions Apachi had put into place. I really appreciate you understanding my concerns before camp began. [My son] had one of the best summers ever and that’s all thanks to you all. He had been looking forward to being a CIT for soooooo long and this summer lived up to everything he hoped it to be and more…even with all the changes due to the pandemic. He can’t wait for next summer to do it all again!!”

This year’s Apachi felt like a gift. You and Jeni and Ryan, and Phil and all the counselors did an outstanding job of keeping Apachi fun and its traditions alive – and keeping everyone safe. Several other parents and I were just talking about how impressed and grateful we are. 

[My daughter] had a fabulous time and it is wonderful that she had the opportunity to interact with her closest friends and stay active in the sunshine amidst this pandemic. Much happiness and memories were made. As a bonus, (not to be underestimated), we were able to make progress in our work, after the challenges of the remote learning in spring, while knowing the kids were in good hands. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“Hello again, and again THANK YOU sooooooo much for doing such an incredible job with Camp Apachi! [My son] (in blue bears) is so happy and seriously started crying today when I drove up for drop off and everyone was do decked out in group colors, music was blaring, everyone was smiling (i could see it in their eyes even if I couldn’t see their mouths because of the masks). You all have gone above and beyond in making this summer not only feel normal to the kids but more like magical! I cannot thank you enough! My only sadness is that next week is the last week. but we will definitely be signing up again next year! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“Just wanted to send a quick note to thank you again for all the hard work that went in to making this summer so fun and as “normal” as possible for the kids. I especially wanted to tell you how impressed I was with counselors and staff at the boys Ida crown drop off each morning. It cannot have been easy to take all those temperatures and manage the checklist each morning! Nevertheless, it was always done with kindness, patience and humor. It was so great to see the kids happily running into camp despite all the necessary modifications! Kol Hakavod for all your hard work! “I am writing as a grateful and appreciative parent. The decision to send our children to camp this summer was a loaded one filled with many concerns: would our kids be safe, would the counselors be able to handle the behavioral challenges that come from kids spending too many weeks at home, would camp be fun? Overwhelmingly, the answer to each of these questions has been YES! From day one, my 6 year-old was excited to head to camp each morning and left at the end of the day with a huge smile on his face and endless stories about things that had happened while he was away.”

“I have to thank you and your team for creating some normalcy for all the kids this summer. As a parent of a staffer and CIT, these last 5 weeks have been great. Getting a taste of a normal summer has been vital for my girls. I love seeing [them] be excited to go to camp and work with their campers and co-counselors each day. I know the spring was rough and starting the school year remotely will be challenging, especially for [my daughter] as she enters her senior year. I am glad they’ve had this amazing summer experience. You have done an incredible job working on creating cohorts, enforcing (as much as possible) social distancing, getting pool time incorporated and making it a memorable summer.”
