All Star Abilities
All Star Abilities (ASA) is a peer-to-peer fitness literacy, wellness instruction, and recreational opportunity for teenagers of all abilities in concert with community partners.
The goals for participants who complete the program are practical exercise training, comfort/ability to utilize a fitness center, and new friendships with other participants and teen volunteers. Peer volunteers will work in tandem with participants to help them achieve their goals.
ASA will meet on Sunday afternoons, and all sessions will take place at the Marvin Lustbader Center, Bernard Weinger JCC (300 Revere Drive, Northbrook, IL 60062). Each session is one hour and fifteen minutes, although volunteers will be expected to arrive 15 minutes early totaling a commitment of 1.5 hours per session. Sessions will run from 1:30-2:45pm. Parents of participants are welcome to stay and utilize the fitness center during each session as our guest.
Service/volunteer hour credits are available for teen volunteers for their participation.
Spring Session Dates:
