Patch: Northbrook Symphony Orchestra – Violins of Hope
The season closes on June 4, 2023, in a concert featuring the Violins of Hope. These are a private collection of string instruments collected since the end of WWII. According to the news releasse, all instruments belonged to Jews before and during the war, specifically having to do with the Holocaust, and will be played by NSO musicians and the soloist. The program includes Bruch’s Violin Concert in g minor with soloist Masha Lakisova, winner of the Arkady Fomin Scholarship of the North Shore Chamber Music Festival. In addition, the orchestra will perform Dvorak’s Symphony #9 “From the New World” — symbolic of immigrants finding a new homeland in America.
