JCC Chicago Offers Community-Building Classes For Parents And Newborns
jNEW Moms Groups and SENSEational Shabbat Classes for Kids Ages 0-2
Chicago, IL –December 21, 2015—Building upon the success and popularity of previous years, JCC Chicago will continue to offer two programs for families with young children- jNew Moms and SENSEational Shabbat. Beginning in January, each program will run for a six-week session. These classes are co-sponsored by jBaby Chicago, an initiative of the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago designed to connect families with young children to Jewish life.
jNew Moms is led by parenting experts who share insights about everything from sleep training to tips for travelling with your new baby. The program connects first time moms who exchange advice, struggles and laughs while navigating this new life stage together. SENSEational Shabbat is an interactive class for parents and tots where children can see, hear, smell, touch and taste Shabbat in a learning environment.
Participating in these programs allows families to make meaningful connections with each other and Jewish life. “One of the babies in a jNew Moms Group received a diagnosis of a chronic medical condition,” shares Jen Streicher, facilitator of the jNew Moms Group and JCC Chicago Early Childhood Social Services team member. “At this time of uncertainty and anxiety, the mothers in the group rallied around the family with thoughtful emails, phone calls, and meals. It was truly amazing to see the support that came from our jNew Moms community.”
Registration for the jNew Moms Group, SENSEational Shabbat and other JCC Chicago programs for young families and children are available here.
JCC Chicago is a non-profit organization inspired by Jewish values, bridging traditions and generations to create a more vibrant, connected community. JCC is a partner with the Jewish United Fund in serving our community.
