JCC Chicago Jewish Film Festival
Chicago, IL –February 4, 2016—The 3rd Annual Chicago Jewish Film Festival opens in City and suburban theaters on March 10, 2016 and will feature eighteen Jewish-inspired films from wide-ranging perspectives. Over ten days at eight venues, the culturally diverse selection of films will illuminate, delight, educate and entertain audiences of all ages.
From the critically-acclaimed to new cinematic works, the Chicago Jewish Film Festival will connect the community and offer up a selection of artistically significant films that include stories of love, loss, learning and survival.
“We have such a fantastic selection of films at our 3rd annual film festival,” said Addie Goodman, Chief Advancement Officer for JCC Chicago. “There really is something for everyone—documentaries, shorts and feature-lengths—stories that will make you laugh, cry, be inspired, learn and love. The film festival celebrates great art and powerful storytelling, all through a Jewish lens.”
Among the most talked about films at this year’s festival are: Very Semi-Serious, a look at the art and genius of The New Yorker cartoons; Dough, starring celebrated actor Jonathan Pryce (from Game of Thrones and Pirates of Caribbean) as a down-on-his-luck widow desperate to save his East End London bakery; Every Face Has a Name, which captures the first free steps of Holocaust survivors docking in Malmo, Sweden; It Happened in Saint Tropez, a smash hit romantic comedy; Felix and Meira, a cross-cultural love story about a woman who questions her faith; and, That Bites, created by a 12-year-old local filmmaker about the fears and frustrations of food allergies.
