JCC Chicago Announces New Partnership with Hazon
Hazon Is a National Leader in Building a More Environmentally Sustainable Planet
Northbrook, IL – May 21, 2020 – JCC Chicago is proud to announce a new, formal partnership with Hazon, the largest faith-based environmental organization in the U.S. As an agency, the J is proud to receive the Hazon Seal of Sustainability, a set of criteria which distinguishes JCC Chicago as a national leader in environmentally aware practices.
The partnership launches this month with actionable, easy, “how-tos” to guide families who would like to make sustainable changes in and around their homes. JCC Chicago, with the support of Hazon’s expert guidance, will help deepen the connection between Jewish wisdom, food, climate and the world around us. Topics include gardening tips for backyard and urban spaces, recycling and composting lessons, the exploration of community garden development and more.
“The timing could not better to launch this partnership with Hazon,” said Brad Finkel, COO, JCC Chicago. “While we’re all at home, people are looking for meaningful ways to stay connected. Working with Hazon will allow JCC Chicago to bring expert-led discussions and tips directly to the community. If you’ve been thinking about starting a garden, re-evaluating how your family can reduce waste or want to know how you can contribute to a more sustainable environment, then we hope you will join us as we launch this partnership together.”
The JCC Chicago’s Hazon initiative will be accessible through the J’s new digital space, Channel J, and the agency’s social media channels. Additionally, JCC Chicago will follow Hazon’s recommendations in the coming months to make our buildings more green and to reduce our collective carbon footprint.
