Update On Our Covid-19 Vaccination Policy
JCC Chicago is dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of our collective community. Our agency is fully compliant with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Executive Order requiring workers in certain industries to be vaccinated against COVID-19, to be tested at least weekly for COVID-19 until they become fully vaccinated, and to be tested at least weekly if they qualify for an exemption from the vaccination requirement. In an attempt to provide safe and healthy programs and spaces for all agency employees, clients, donors and others, JCC Chicago has taken the additional step of requiring all employees, even those not subject to the Governor’s Executive Order, to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
All employees of JCC Chicago, including exempt, non-exempt and seasonal workers, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 3, 2021, unless they have received a religious or medical exemption. Employees are considered “fully vaccinated” two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after receiving a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccinated employees are required to provide the agency with proof of vaccination by uploading specific documents in our Human Resources Information System.
Employees may be exempt from being vaccinated if they have a disability or other medical condition for which the COVID-19 vaccination is medically contraindicated or if the vaccination would violate a sincerely held religious belief. Employees who seek to qualify for one of the exemptions are required to complete a request form by Friday, October 29, 2021, and to be tested for COVID-19 each week, if it is determined that they are exempt from vaccination.
JCC Chicago provides adequate paid time off per vaccination shot and vaccines are freely available at many local medical facilities, health centers and drugstores. If a provider of COVID-19 vaccinations is willing to give vaccinations at an agency facility at no charge, JCC Chicago may arrange to have the vaccination shots made available on-site. Effective immediately, until fully vaccinated, employees must be tested for COVID-19 at least once each week and enter their results into the Human Resources Information System no later than three (3) working days after receiving test results; limited paid time off is provided to employees for testing.
Employees who do not comply with COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirements will be excluded from on-site functions and will not be allowed to work until they comply or if the agency determines that they qualify for telework. Failure to comply will result in termination of employment.
JCC Chicago is grateful for all of front-line workers serving our childcare centers, day camps, overnight camp and out-of-school programs, as well as those who provide high-quality, in-person programming and celebrations of our Jewish culture and heritage. Requiring vaccination for all of valued employees allows JCC Chicago to safely provide essential services to our community.
