Hall of Fame Road Trip is open to all Chicagoland Jewish teens in 8th-10th grades.

Price includes meals and snacks, activities, admission fees and transportation to/from the Bernard Weinger JCC in Northbrook.

Transportation is by coach bus with Camp Chi staff chaperones.

To ensure that meals are kosher-style, all food provided during the trip will be vegetarian. Most special diets and food allergies can be accommodated. Staff are not responsible for food purchased by participants with their own spending money.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each night we will stay at a hotel. Teens will be grouped together based upon requests and similar interests. You will share a room with 2-5 other people.

The bus is part of the fun! We’ll play games, do projects and watch movies. We schedule the longer bus trips to leave early in the morning so that participants can get some extra sleep. At designated times, participants will be able to use their phones to call home.

With over four decades of experience, Camp Chi is a leader among overnight camps when it comes to arranging and leading teen travel trips. Participants will be supervised at all times, both on and off the bus. The lead staff on the Hall of Fame Road Trip are full-time staff at Camp Chi. Similar to overnight camp, these staff and counselors will be with you on the bus and throughout the day at all attractions, meals and activities. Staff will be assigned to be “on-duty” each night and will make rounds in case you need anything.

Participants do not need to bring spending money. However, they may bring money if they think they will want to purchase souvenirs or other gifts along the way.

Each Hall of Fame has a variety of exhibits. Even a casual can find something of interest. Along with the tours of the Halls of Fame, there will also be activities that resonate with everyone, including evening programs and visits to sites such as Niagara Falls.

We partner with Keshet to provide one-on-one support or accommodations for teens with disabilities. Please contact Jennifer Phillips, Camp Chi’s Inclusion Coordinator, for more information and to schedule a time for a  confidential intake.

You can bring electronics, including cell phones. These items are your personal property. We are not responsible for these items, including if they are damaged or misplaced. We will designate specific times for you to be able to use your phone on the bus to call home. There will be limited space to charge phones during the trip.

Hall of Fame Road Trip is part of Springboard, a community initiative created with the support of JUF/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, the Jim Joseph Foundation and a consortium of local funders.

This program is an opportunity to meet other Jewish teens and see how your interests intersect with Jewish life and ideas. As JCC and Camp Chi program, we define “Jewish” broadly. As long as you and/or your family identify as Jewish in some way, this program is for you. We ask that everyone be open-minded and accepting of others’ beliefs and observances.
