Lifeguard Training
Strong swimmers can earn and American Red Cross Lifeguard certification through our Lifeguard training program. This popular certification is necessary for many aquatics-related positions and recommended for other jobs where water safety is a concern.
In addition, we also offer Lifeguard Instructor training and Lifeguard and Safety Instructor training. Both programs require participants to hold a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding / First Aid / CPR / AED or an equivalent certification from another organization.
Must be 15 years old or older on or before the final session of the course. Participants will swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing using front crawl and breaststroke; tread water for 2 minutes using only legs; and complete a timed endurance series.

- Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object (our pool is 12 feet deep). Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
Adult-Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
This is an instructional class designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Participants will learn the skills needed to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.
American Red Cross Babysitting
This course gives youth ages 11 to 15 years old the knowledge and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Combining video, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion for a complete learning experience, Babysitter Training teaches youth how to respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing and other appropriate care. Students also learn to make decisions under pressure, communicate with parents to learn household rules, recognize safety and hygiene issues, manage young children, feed, diaper and care for infants and start their babysitting business.
