Meet the Instructors
Get to the know the incredibly talented fitness professionals who have joined the Marvin Lustbader Center team. Everything from cycling and Zumba to yoga and barre, our experienced, enthusiastic teachers can help you correctly and effectively build a great workout experience.
Group Exercise Manager
Deena grew up in a dance studio. She spent her afternoons/evenings moving to music, jumping, and turning. As an adult, that passion evolved into the world of fitness. Whether she’s teaching a class, assisting members with their goals or supporting other instructors and staff, Deena is committed to enthusiastically serving everyone at the Lustbader Fitness Center.
Bill holds a Schwinn Cycling certification. If you want a well-constructed cycle experience with clear objectives, Bill’s class will deliver! He partners his cycling expertise with a dedication to running, and challenges his students to set incremental goals and work hard. When he’s not on the bike, you may find him competing in marathons, dualthons or other events.
WERQ and Cycling
Dr. Sharon Robinson is a pediatrician and certified fitness instructor teaching WERQ, cycling and other formats. Sharon’s enthusiasm and smile are contagious. Her classes are fun and will help you stay fit (and out of her office!).
Aqua Aerobics and Active Older Adult Classes
Susan has been teaching at the JCC since 2001. In addition to her aqua classes, she will teach our active aging adults in a variety of appropriate studio classes. She can help everyone who attends modify movement to get a great workout.
Pam believes that movement is art in motion. Her yoga classes reflect her passion for artistic expression and her training in social work. She holds a 200-hour Yoga Alliance training certification and has worked with a variety of fitness levels and age groups.
Debbie holds multiple certifications in everything from barre to personal training. She’s been training Zumba instructors across Illinois and beyond for many years and continues to stay focused on sharing Zumba, and its many forms, with her students. Her clear and easy-to -follow instruction makes her classes effective and enjoyable.
Barre, TRX, Strength, Yoga and WERQ
Tev is an experienced and versatile instructor who knows how to help her students find individual success. She is certified to teach barre, TRX, strength, yoga and WERQ. You will enjoy her creativity and energy.
Liz is a certified trainer with certificates in weight management and sports nutrition and is pursuing her 200-hour yoga training. She is dedicated to helping her clients pursue a healthy lifestyle through movement and nutrition.
Amy is a skilled teacher and one-on-one coach. She has multiple certifications in yoga and Pilates. Hands on corrections and verbal clarity are key elements of her classes.
Stephanie completed three, 200-hour Yoga Alliance training sessions with additional training in anatomy and physiology. She is experienced in Asana, Praniyama, Kriyas, and meditation.
Strength, Step, Cardio, Bootcamp, Barre
Sue has her certification from AFAA, Athletic Fitness Association of America. She is also a TRX certified instructor with over 30 years experience teaching various formats such as strength, step, cardio, bootcamp, barre and many more. Sue brings a wealth of knowledge to her classes. She works with all fitness levels to ensure they are challenged and safe.
Erin in an AFAA* certified instructor with additional qualifications in Zumba, WERQ, PiYo (Pilates yoga fusion), Turbo Kick and Insanity. Her dance and movement focused classes are energetic, fun and sure to burn lots of calories.
Members will be drawn to her experience, as she holds a 200-hour Hatha Yoga certification and Yoga Alliance R-RYT 200. Her class will emphasize breath and offer modifications for all levels. Kelly has additional training and experience in less traditional classes including Circus Yoga and AntiGravity Aerial Yoga.
Leah’s classes are based on Hatha Yoga, Forest Yoga and follow careful sequencing used to address back and neck strain. She can also instruct Vinyasa Flow, Sculpt and Gentle and Restorative Yoga.
Laura has a 200-Hour Pure Yoga teacher training certification. She offers excellent instruction in Vinyasa Yoga and Restorative Yoga. She combines verbal guidance and physical corrections to assist you in your practice.
Molly holds a B.S. in Health and Wellness and is certified in Group Exercise through AFAA*. Additional certifications in WERQ, ballet barre and Schwinn Cycle will give you an opportunity to experience multiple formats with Molly. Molly is also a Lifestyle Coach and can offer expertise to commit to a healthy lifestyle.
Nicole’s 200-HR Yogaview Yoga certification is the foundation for her Vinyasa Yoga class. She’s been teaching since 2009 and her mindfulness practice in the yoga studio is reflective of her additional academic education in art therapy work with children and families.
Cycling, TRX and Queenax Functional Training
Carlee’s studio command makes her classes effective and fun! As an AFFA* certified Group Fitness Instructor, she brings 21 years of experience to her students. Carlee offers classes including Bootcamp, TRX, cycle, strength and other interval training formats.
Cameron holds a B.S. in Fitness Management, a Personal Trainer certification and an AFAA* Group Exercise certification. His training equips him to function in a wide variety of roles, from the fitness floor to the studio.
Amy is certified through ACE (American Council on Exercise), Keiser and Schwinn Cycle, TRX and SCW for personal training. She has more than 15 years teaching experience and has served as a JCC aquatics instructor since 2004.
Total Body Conditioning and Cycling
Matt is a personal trainer with a degree in Physical Education focused on exercise science. His Crossfit and Barwis Method training makes him uniquely qualified to teach studio interval classes and spin.
Stephanie holds level 200 (Moksha Yoga) and 500 (Yogaview) certifications. She will be offering a variety of yoga classes at the Marvin Lustbader Center. Stephanie’s been teaching in the surrounding communities since 2008 and, in addition to studio classes, teaches beach and paddle yoga.
Jill has completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program (Ashtanga and Mysore based) and 300 hour, level 2 Yogaview Vinyasa-flow based training, with additional study in anatomy. Her classes offer a focused environment for learning and executing movement with hands-on adjustments and corrections to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Barre, Pilates, Cycling
With numerous and varied certifications, you may see Ellen teaching many formats. She’s a gold certified ACE (American Council on Exercise), instructor qualified to teach Pilates Mat, barre and various studio classes. Her cycle certification is through Schwinn and her infectious spirit motivates her classes to work hard and have fun!
Dance in many forms would describe Lisa’s experience! She is certified in Zumba, WERQ, booty barre and has also studied belly dancing, ballet and hula. Her classes will motivate you to discover your personal dancing gifts and will give you a great workout.
