The Love of Baseball
My family loves all things baseball. This was not always true. We are not lifelong baseball fans. My son Ethan began playing house baseball when we moved to Northbrook in 2010. Our family immediately found a community of parents, new friends and coaches that provided motivation and opportunity for my son to feel pride and accomplishment. Ethan might not always be the strongest player on the team, but he is a great teammate and his game has continually improved over the years.
This summer Ethan is traveling to Cooperstown, NY with his 12 U baseball team. The anticipation of this upcoming experience is discussed regularly during our family meals. Additionally, between the Chicago Cubs Championship this year, and the recent Israeli Team’s success at the World Baseball Classic, there are many aspirational examples of sportsmanship, opportunity, and team pride to build on our excitement.
Ethan is hopeful to represent JCC Chicago during the Summer of 2018 at the Maccabi games. We cannot wait to accompany him on that journey. Our family’s love of baseball will continue to grow with each opportunity that we are fortunate to experience together on and off the field. Cooperstown this year, Maccabi next year… Who knows, maybe he can represent Israel in the World Baseball Classic someday.
