Fallingwater is a house designed in 1935 by renowned American architect Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959). The house was designed as a private residence and weekend home for the family of Pittsburgh department store owner, Edgar J. Kaufmann, Sr. Fallingwater is one of Wright’s most widely acclaimed works and best exemplifies his philosophy of organic architecture: the harmonious union of art and nature.
Amy Hubert, Fallingwater School Programs and Outreach Manager has been employed in the Education department since 1986. She is a second-generation employee of the Western Pa Conservancy. Her late father, Frank “Lee” Lowden, was a naturalist at Ferncliff in Ohiopyle and also at the Bear Run Nature Reserve adjacent to Fallingwater. Amy lives close by in Ohiopyle with her husband, Roger, who was employed for several years in Fallingwater’s Preservation department. She and Roger enjoy spending time with their young grandson, Jonas, gardening, and hiking.
