COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
January 3, 2022
Dear JCC Chicago Community,
Effective Monday, January 3, 2022, JCC Chicago will require individuals, ages 5 and older, to show proof of vaccination when entering our fitness and recreation facilities to verify all participants are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. This update in policy is in accordance with the City of Chicago Public Health Order 2021-2 and Cook County Public Health Mitigation Order 2021-11 intended to stop the spread of Covid-19. More information from the City of Chicago and Cook County is available.
Upon entry and scanning of your member ID, you will be asked if you are attending a sports or fitness program, which includes studios for personal fitness, group exercise classes, gymnastics, and pool and gym usage. For those intending to use any fitness or recreation space, you will be asked to present valid proof of vaccination, which includes:
Valid photo ID (ages 16+) and one of the following
- Vaccination Card
- Photocopy of vaccination card
- Digital record or app
- Printed record from vaccine provider
Upon showing proof of vaccination, the engagement staff will add to the user’s account that proof of vaccination has been confirmed. After this initial visit when proof of vaccination is uploaded to the system, members will not need to show their ID and proof of vaccination status again. Please know that anyone not able to show proof of vaccination will not be permitted entry to the facility until they are able to do so.
As a reminder, when using the fitness or recreation areas, masks are required, and social distancing is encouraged. When entering any public space, masks are required regardless of vaccination status. Public spaces include the lobby, hallways, bathrooms, and locker rooms (in areas where wearing a mask is possible).
We are continuously monitoring the situation and will provide updates as the dynamic shifts and new information becomes available. As a community center, we are committed to doing everything possible to keep our community safe and healthy.
Thank you for your cooperation.
